Orchestrated Stylized Shoots: Welded

I love a good road trip. Especially one that involves me getting to sleep in past 6:30AM for the first time in 18 months, eat all of my meals without sharing with little piping birdies at my feet and take as many showers as I want for as long as I want. Yeah, it was my first weekend away from the kiddos, can you tell?

And even better, I love a good road trip that starts and finishes with the discovery that Chelsea and I are strangely identical, separated-at-birth, secret heart twinsies (like really uncannily similar...for real) and included pretty much the most romantic, real life moment I've ever experienced as a photographer.

All that happened with Welded. And then some.

Traveling to a new terrain for a creative project sparks something extra fiery in me. Coming upon a venue for the first time, shrouded in fog and winter and all the excitement of the unknown gets me all giddy, deep down in my veins. Welded did not disappoint.

And while our industrial theme and blended family angle were unique and exciting in their own rites, I'm pretty sure nothing topped the moment when our "groom," who had recently celebrated 15 years of marriage with the love of his life, mentioned that he'd really like to take the opportunity to surprise his "bride" with a real life vow renewal. Ya know, since they're all dressed up already and stuff. And so we did. And there were tears. And laughter. And covert ops making it all happen. And then more tears. It was without a doubt one of the most poignant moments of my career and quite honestly, words don't do it justice, so I'll stop talking.
